Jessore: A septuagenarian man, who was allegedly beaten by his nephew on Friday, died from injuries at Jessore General Hospital on Friday evening.

The deceased is Hamid Molla, believed to be 70, of Bagharpara upazila.

The victim’s family said Hamid Molla and his brother Hashem Molla had been at loggerheads over 10 decimals of land.

On Thursday, a meeting was held to settle the matter with local Union Parishad chairman and ward member.

At one stage, sons of Hashem Molla hit Hamid Molla with a bamboo, leaving him critically injured. Hamid’s son Rabiul was also injured when he tried to save his father.

Later they were taken to Jessore General Hospital where Hamid Molla succumbed to his injuries on Friday evening.

Bagharpara Police officer in-charge Syed Uddin Ahmed said police are investigating the incident.
