Case filed over attack on war crimes witness

Pabna: A case was filed on Sunday night in connection with the attack on a prosecution witness in the war crimes case against convicted Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdus Sobhan by his rivals at Shahapur Masjid Para in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Sunday evening over a land dispute.
The injured was identified as Abdur Rahman Sardar, 65, a prosecution witness in the case and a resident of the locality.
Sajeeb, son of the victim Abdur Rahman Sardar, filed the case with Ishwardi police station against Ishwardi upazila Krishak League secretary general Sadek Ali Biswas, local Awami League leader Bishu, Hiro and Abdur Rahim alias Nevy alias Sentu for launching attack on Abdur Rahman Sardar.
Police arrested accused Sentu in the case.
Ishwardi police officer-in-charge Biman Kumar Das confirmed the matter.
Earlier on Sunday evening, Abdur Rahman Sardar, a prosecution witness in the war crimes case against convicted Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdus Sobhan came under attack at Shahapur Masjid Para in Ishwardi upazila over a land dispute.
Abdur Rahman locked in an altercation with local Awami League leader Sadek Ali in the evening over a land-related dispute, said the OC.
At one stage, Bishu, a supporter of Sadek Ali, swooped on Abdur Rahman at about 7:30pm and hacked him with sharp weapon, leaving him injured, the OC added.
The injured was taken to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex.
