Gazipur: In a brutal torture, a man stabbed his wife in the eyes in Boubazar area of Tongi upazila on Thursday over family dispute.

The victim is Sheuli, wife of Kamal. They used to live in a rented house of Shafiqur Rahman Sihab in the area.

Aminul Islam, inspector (investigation) of Tongi Police Station, said Kamal tied his wife’s faces with scotch tape, stabbed her eyes with a knife and fled the house on Thursday evening.

Hearing the screams of Sheuli, the neighbours informed the owner of the house.

Being informed by the owner of the house, police rescued the woman and admitted her to Tongi Government Hospital.

Nusrat Jahan, a doctor of the hospital, said both the eyes of the victim have been damaged critically.

After primary treatment at the hospital, she was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
