Bagerhat: Police arrested two youths for posting derogatory comments about the holy Quran on Facebook from Morelganj upazila headquarters on Friday night.

The arrestees are Manjurul Sikder Palash, 30, a resident of Adorshopara and Chapal Kumar Poddar, 27, a resident of Serestadar area of the upazila.

Morelganj police officer-in-charge MD Rashedul Alam said, Monjurul and Chapal made derogatory comments on holy Quran on their Facebook posts and printed the comments.

Later, they distributed the print copies among local people.

On Information, a team of police conducted a drive and arrested them at night.

MD Tariqul Islam, sub-inspector of the police station, filed a case against the two young men under the Information and Communication Technology Act, added the OC.

Bagerhat Chief Judicial Magistrate sent them to jail on Saturday when they were produced before his court.
