Dhaka: A suspected criminal was killed in a reported shootout with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the capital’s Mohakhali area early on Tuesday.

Two RAB members were also injured in the incident, officials at the RAB headquarters claimed saying that one foreign made pistol, one magazine, two bullets and two sharp weapons were recovered from the spot.

The deceased is Bangkok Sumon, said RAB.

Sub-inspector Mostak Ahmed of Banani police station said an incident of shootout took place near IPH pond, on the western side of Mohakhali Sattala Slum between members of RAB 1 and miscreants at about 3:00am.

After a short exchange of fire, the criminals fled the scene leaving Sumon fatally injured.

Sumon died while being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, SI Mostak quoted RAB members as saying.

The body was sent to DMCH morgue for an autopsy.
