Netrakona: A tribunal in Netrakona on Tuesday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for violating a girl in 2008.

The lifer, Ziaur Rahman,30, of Bororia village in Purbadhala upazila, was also fined Tk20,000, in default, to suffer six months’ more imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, the convict violated a girl, a resident of the same village, on 2 July 2008.

Victim's mother Jamila Akter filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on 27 July 2008.

Police submitted a charge sheet against him on 12 August 2008.

After examining the records and witnesses, Netrakona Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge AKM Abul Kashem handed down the verdict.
