Harsh Vardhan Shringla new Indian envoy to Bangladesh

Dhaka: Harsh Vardhan Shringla has been appointed next Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
He is currently serving as Indian Ambassador to Thailand, said the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in a media note formally announcing his appointment on Wednesday.
Shringla is expected to take up his assignment shortly replacing incumbent Indian envoy Pankaj Saran following completion of his tenure in Dhaka.
Pankaj Saran who has been serving as Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka since 2012 is reportedly going to Russia as Indian Ambassador.
In the course of his diplomatic career spanning 30 years, Shringla has held a variety of positions in New Delhi and in Indian Missions in Paris, Hanoi and Tel Aviv.
He has also served as Counsellor in the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, New York and as Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Durban, South Africa.
Prior to taking up his post in Thailand, Shringla served in the Ministry of External Affairs as Joint Secretary (Director General) responsible for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and the Maldives.
Shringla has also headed the United Nations Political and SAARC Divisions in the Ministry. Earlier, he served as Director of the Northern (Nepal and Bhutan) Division and Deputy Secretary of the Europe West Division.
