Netrakona: A court on Tuesday convicted a man of killing his wife in Durgapur upazila in 2007 and sentenced him to death.

The condemned is Abdus Salam, 40, resident of Dubrajpur village in the Durgapur upazila.

According to the prosecution, Salam hacked his wife Shilpi Akter, 36, to death over a trifling matter at East Nanderchati on October 12, 2007. The couple used to work at a fish enclosure at East Nanderchati.

Victim’s brother Shohar Ali filed a case against Salam on the day.

Police submitted charge sheet on December 12, 2006.

After examining the records and seven witnesses, Additional Session’s Judge Mohammad Abdul Hamid handed down the verdict.
