Comilla: Eight people, including two children, were killed as a bus crashed into an auto-rickshaw in Noya Bazar area of Chouddagram upazila on Tuesday evening.

Highway police super (East Zone) Rezaul Karim said the accident happened on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at about 6:30pm.

Dhaka: Two people, including a Rapid Action Battalion official, were killed in a road accident between a car and a motorcycle near the Prime Minister’s Office at Tejgaon in Dhaka.

They were identified as RAB 4 corporal Uchchel Alam and a car driver Kamruzzaman Liton.

‘The car bumped into the motorcycle soon after its gas cylinder blasted at about 12:30pm. The car bumped up about 10 to 15 feet in the air and then landed on the motorcycle of the RAB official. Both of them were heading towards Jahangir Gate at cantonment when the blast took place in front of Falcon Tower in the area,’ said Tejgaon police duty officer Saiful Basher.

They were taken to the Combined Military Hospital at cantonment where doctors declared both as dead, he adds.

Confirming the death of Ucchel Alam, RAB deputy director major M Maksudul Alam told NTV online that Ucchel was on his way to RAB headquarters in Uttara from RAB-4 office when the accident took place.

The autopsy of the bodies was ongoing by sub inspector Ramzan Ali till filing of the report at 7:00 pm. 

Rangpur: Two motorcyclists were killed on the spot when a Syedpur bound coach "Nabil Paribahan' from Dhaka crushed the motorcycle at Hajirhat point on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in the city at about 6:40 pm this evening.

Being informed, Kotwali police rushed to the spot, seized the killer coach, recovered the bodies and sent those to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for conducting autopsy.

Police could not ascertain indentifies of the two deceased male motorcyclists immediately.

Thakurgaon: Pedestrian Belal Hossain of Shibganj village under Sadar upazila was killed on the spot after a motorcycle hit him in front of Thakurgaon Hospital this morning. Besides, an unidentified trolley driver was killed on the spot when he lost control over the steering and the vehicle fell down into the roadside ditch at Turukpata village under sadar upazila at about 11:00am today.
