Jhalakati: A worker was died of fall while setting up a tube well at Razapur in Jhalakati on Wednesday afternoon.

Deceased Shubhal was from Mirzaganj of Patuakhali.

Police said at least five workers were setting up a tube well standing on a bamboo‑made temporary stage.

The stage, however, broken down as ropes used to tie the poles got loosened. Five workers, including Shubhal, Sohel, Sabuj and Zahirul, all were between 12 and 17, fell to the ground with force and got injured. Among them, Shubhal got head injuries.

They were taken to Rajapur Upazila Health Complex, said Rajapur police officer-in-charge Sheikh Monir Ul Giash.

The workers were later taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital as their condition was deteriorated.

Shubhal, however, died on the way, the police officer confirmed.
