War crimes suspect held in Moulvibazar

Moulvibazar: Police in a drive arrested war crimes suspect Akmal Ali from Pachgaon area in Rajnagar, Moulvibazar on Thursday noon.
Police super M Shahjalal said a team of police launched a drive in the house of Akmal, 70, former vice-principal of Moulvibazar Town Kamil Madrasah, in the village at about 12:30pm and arrested him.
Earlier in the morning, the International Crimes Tribunal issued arrest warrants against 10 war crimes suspects, including Akmal Ali, of Gaibandha and Moulvibazar districts for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity the during Liberation War in 1971.
A three-member team of ICT led by Justice Anwarul Haque passed the order in the morning following two separate petitions filed by two prosecutors.
