Manna on 10-days police custody

Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna has been sent to a 10-day police custody for questioning in a case filed against him allegedly for trying to instigate revolt by the armed forces.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman of Dhaka passed the order after Manna was produced before it on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier, Gulshan Police Inspector Firoz said they will seek a 10-day police custody for Manna as sub-inspector Barik, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court.
Earlier, sub-inspector Sohel Rana of Gulshan Police Station filed a case against Manna under section 131 of Bangladesh Penal Code on Tuesday with the police station.
While talking to reporters at the DMP media centre, joint commissioner (Detective Branch) Monirul Islam said members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Manna from Dhanmondi near ‘Star Kabab’ around 10:30pm on Tuesday night.
Nearly 21 hours after he was picked up by plainclothes lawmen from a house at Banani early Tuesday, Rab confirmed the arrest of Manna and handed him over to Gulshan Police Station.
