Dinajpur: A homeopathic doctor sustained bullet injuries in an attack by miscreants at Ranibandar in Chirirbandar upazila on Monday night.

The victim was identified as Birendra Roy, a resident of Ranipur village of the upazila.

Locals said a gang of miscreants intercepted Birendra in the area when he was returning home from Ranibandar Bazar at about 11:30pm.

Later, the attackers opened fire on Birendra and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued him and took him to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital from where he was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Chirirbandar police officer-in-charge Anisur Rahman confirmed the incident.

The reason behind the attack could not be known immediately.
