Chittagong: An employee of the local office of the Directorate General of Food has allegedly been kidnapped.

The victim is Munmun Akhter, 30, office assistant of the Patiya office of the directorate, says a local news agency.

Victim’s brother Jamsed said Munmun went missing while returning home from her office on Wednesday afternoon. Her mobile phone was found switched off on that night.

A general diary was lodged with Patiya Police Station in this regard on Thursday, he said.

Jamsed also said kidnappers called him over his phone from the mobile of Munmun on Thursday and demanded Tk 10 lakh for her release.

They also threatened to kill her if their demand was not met, he said.

Patiya police officer-in-charge Rafayet Ullah Chowdhury said a general diary was filed with the police station in this regard.
