Kushtia: A seven-year-old schoolgirl was found dead in a crop field by her house in Kushtia on Saturday night. She went missing just at sundown hours after she had gone to collect grass from nearby field.

Police at about 6:00pm recovered the body of Ishita, daughter of Isharat Ali, from Char Jadubayra at Kumarkhali upazila in the district.

Local people said Ishita left her house at about 3:00pm but did not return home until sundown.

Her family went out to search for her.

They found the body on the char land and informed the police. Later Police went there and recovered the body.

Kumarkhali police officer-in-charge Mohibul Islam said the victim might have been raped before asphyxiated by the offenders.

Police is still in dark about the people responsible for the killing, the police officer added.
