UN concerned over arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia

The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon has expressed deep concern over the arrest warrant against Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The UN chief Ban Ki-moon’s spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric came up with the concern at a press briefing on Wednesday at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Stéphane Dujarric said the UN chief is already aware of the latest political development in Bangladesh.
‘The Secretary‑General remains very concerned. I think as we're seeing these heightened tensions and the continuing violence, political violence we're seeing in Bangladesh, and again, he renews his appeal to all political leaders to seek a peaceful resolution to the current crisis for the good of long‑term development and the stability of Bangladesh.’
Earlier on Wednesday, a Dhaka court issued warrants for Khaleda's arrest in the orphanage case and Zia Charitable Trust graft case filed by the ACC on 8 August 2011 during the previous tenure of the Awami League-led government.
