Dhaka: The government has nominated noted fashion designer Bibi Russell and late educationist Taibun Nahar Rashid for Rokeya Padak 2015 for their outstanding contribution to spreading female education and ensuring women rights.

The Padak (award) will be given on Wednesday at a function in Osmani Memorial Hall Auditorium in Dhaka, said a press release.

Russell was born in Chittagong in 1950 to Mokhlessur Rahman and Shamsun Nahar. She grew up in Dhaka studying in Kamrunnessa Government Girls’ High School and later Home Economics College.

Taibun Nahar was born in Dhaka in 1919. She obtained her post-graduate and higher degrees from local and foreign universities.
