Pabna: A schoolboy, who was kidnapped on Friday night, was found dead near his house at Madhupur village of Ataikula upazila in Pabna on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased is Shakil Akhter, 14, son of Belal Hossain of the village and a class IX student of Ataikula High School, reports United News of Bangladesh, a local news agency.

Victim’s father Belal said Shakil went missing since some unknown men called him over phone when he was playing badminton near his house at about 8:00pm on Friday.

Later, the kidnappers demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom from him over mobile phone, he said.

Following the phone call of the kidnappers Belal went to Madhupur Bazar along with the ransom money but none came there to receive the money.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the body from a guava orchard and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Ataikula police officer-in-charge Nur-e-Alam Siddique.
