Swechchhasebak League leader stabbed dead in Thakurgaon
Thakurgaon: Miscreants stabbed a Swechchhasebak League leader to death at Sadar upazila in Thakurgaon in the early hours of Wednesday.
District superintendent of police (SP) Mohammad Foraz Ahmed told NTV Online the incident took place at Munshirhat in the municipality city at about 12:30am.
The deceased is Abdul Mannan, financial secretary of Swechchhasebak League in the upazila.
A former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was also injured during the incident. The injured is Jummon, a resident of Asrampara area of the city. He was taken to district’s Modern Sadar Hospital.
The SP said police is working to detain the criminals involved with the crime. However, the body of Abdul Mannan was sent to Modern Sadar hospital for autopsy.
Jummon told the journalists, Abdul Mannan was going to Munshirhat area in the early hours of Wednesday, when two miscreants attacked on him and stabbed him. Later, local people rescued him and took him to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital. However, he died on his way to the hospital.
The former BCL leader claimed sadar upazila Juba League’s joint general secretary Sajib Datta and Shanta were among the miscreants who stabbed Abdul Manan. He said they had previous enmity.
