RMG worker allegedly raped after taking away from road

Mymensingh: A man was charged with the accusation of raping a teenager readymade garment (RMG) worker after took her away from the road at Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh.

Considering a case filed over the incident on Monday morning, police held the brother-in-law of prime accused, Shahin, around 22 years old, after the case was filed. The arrestee is Monjurul Haque.

The Gauripur police Officer-in-charge (OC) Delwar Ahamed quoting victim’s brother-in-law Abul Khayer said Shahin, a resident of Nandigram, captured the victim when she was going to her workplace at Bhaluka on Friday. Shahin took away the victim to his brother-in-law Manjurul’s residence at the village of Gujikha and allegedly raped her at the house.

Later, on Saturday Shahin took the victim in unconscious condition at a residence in Mymensingh. He locked her at the house for two days and raped her.

Later, Shahin left the unconscious victim at Shyambhuganj bus stand on the period of time between Sunday night or early hours of Monday. Later, being informed Abul Khayer, brother-in-law of the victim, recovered her and admitted her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

The OC said Abul Khayer filed a case against Shahin, his sister Sabina Akhter, and his brother-in-law Manjurul Haque, in this connection. Shahin and his sister are absconding after the case was filed.
