Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh Johan Frisell on Tuesday thanked the government of Bangladesh for taking stringent security measures to ensure the safety of diplomats and foreign nationals after the 1st July terror attack on a Gulshan café last year.

The outgoing envoy said this when he met State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam MP at his ministry.

Pointing to non-recurrence or even attempt of similar incidence like the 1st July, he mentioned that he ‘never felt any doubt about security’, ever since, reports the UNB.

State Minister Alam referred to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ‘zero-tolerance policy’ and reiterated government’s strong determination to fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

He congratulated the envoy for successfully arranging the first-ever bilateral official visit by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Sweden last month.

Expressing his utmost happiness, Frisell mentioned that this landmark visit has set new objectives that would guide relations to a newer height.

Terming Nordic countries, particularlySweden, as role model for peace, security, the rule of law and human rights, State Minister Alam expressed optimism thatBangladeshwould be able to tap into their values, experiences and practices while it aspires to be a middle-income country by 2021.

Ambassador Frisell thanked Alam for extending all-out cooperation to him during his stay in Dhaka.

The State Minister wished his success in his next assignment in Berlin.
