‘Criminal’ killed in Ctg ‘gunfight’ with RAB

A listed criminal was killed in a reported gunfight between his cohorts and the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Polo Ground in Chittagong city’s Double Mooring area on early Wednesday.
The deceased Abul Kalam Farhad alias Lengra Kalam, hailed from Sonagazi upazila of Feni district, was a listed pirate of Home Ministry, said RAB.
Tipped off, a team of RAB conducted a drive in the area to arrest Kalam around 3:30am, said Mimtanur Rahman, senior superintendent of RAB-7, reports the UNB.
Sensing the presence of the elite force, the associates of Kalam opened fire at RAB men prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
At one stage, Kalam caught in the line of fire and died while the others managed to flee the scene.
