Dhaka: A female student of University of Dhaka (DU) was found hanging at her residence in Dhaka’s Elephant Road area on Thursday morning.

The deceased is Maria, in her twenties, a student of year II of the Department of History at the university.

Maria, along with her family, used to live at the ninth floor of Concord Tower in Elephant Road.

Maria’s elder sister, Moria said they live at the ninth floor of the nineteenth-storey Concord Tower. She discovered Maria hanging from the fan of her room at about 6:00am on Thursday.

Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where duty doctors declared her dead at about 7:30am.

However, Moria could not say the reason behind Maria’s suicide.

DMCH police box in-charge Sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia said, Maria’s body was handed over to her family.
