Man kills sister-in-law, self in Barisal

Barisal: A young man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself after killing his sister-in-law and injuring his wife at Kownia Puran para in Barisal city on Friday morning.

The deceased are Sajib, in his twenties, a resident of Ujirpur area of Barisal, and his 4-year-old sister-in-law Sadia.

The Kownia Police Officer-in-charge (OC) Nurul Islam said Sajib allegedly killed his sister-in-law by silting her throat first, hacked his wife, Sumiya, around 18 years old, and then he took his own life by hanging himself.

Informed, police rushed in and recovered the bodies and sent those to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The injured was admitted to the hospital, the OC added.

Quoting Sumaiya, the OC said she was living with her mother in Kownia Puran para area. Her husband tried to take her to his home at Ujirpur, several times. At one stage of quarrel over the issue, Sajib killed her sister and took his own life.
