Rajshahi: Rajshahi University proctor Professor Mohammad Mozibul Huq Azad Khan resigned from his post showing personal reasons on Sunday morning.

The proctor submitted his resignation letter to RU Vice-chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan around 10:30am.

In the letter, Mozibul said, ‘The role of proctorial body is very essential in keeping the law and order situation of the university stable and ensuring security for all. And proctor is the chief of the body. However, I am resigning from the post due to my several personal reasons.’

While asked, Prof Mozibul, also the teacher of Psychology Department of the university said there is no other reasons behind the decision except the personal matters.

‘He (Mozibul) submitted a written resignation letter seeking exemption from the charge. And we have accepted it,’ said RU VC Abdus Sobhan adding, ‘A qualified and skilled teacher will be appointed very soon to fulfill the vacant post.’

Professor Mozibul took the charge as the proctor on March 31, 2016.

Earlier in the morning, teachers of Political Science Department of the university went on indefinite work abstention demanding removal of Dr Nasima Zaman from the chairperson post of the department.

Some 11 teachers of the department started their demonstration at 9:00am bringing no-confidence in Professor Nasima in supervising the department.
