Arrest Diaz murder accused, bar them from fleeing abroad: Court
A Chittagong court on Monday ordered police to arrest the 10 accused in the Chittagong University BCL leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury killing case.
Following a petition filed by Diaz’s mother Jaheda Amin Chowdhury, Chittagong Chief Judicial Magistrate Munshi Mashiur Rahman also asked the authorities concerned to take necessary steps so that the accused cannot leave the country, reports the UNB.
Jubaida Sarwar Chowdhury Nipa, Diaz’s elder sister and the plaintiff’s counsel, said the court ordered for arresting the accused and seizing their passports so that they cannot flee the country.
At the same time, it directed for alerting all ports and border check-posts so that the accused cannot leave the country.
On November 20 last, the body of Diaz, assistant secretary of the central BCL committee and joint secretary of CU unit BCL, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom at his family’s rented house in Gate-2 area of the Chittagong University.
On November 23 last, the Forensic Department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) that conducted the 1st postmortem described the incident as a suicide in its report.
However, his family members had rejected the autopsy report, alleging that he had been murdered in a planned way by his rivals following a dispute over tender for the construction of some university buildings.
On November 24, Diaz’s mother Jaheda Amin Chowdhury filed a case against 10 people, including CU BCL president Alamgir Tipu and CU assistant proctor Anwar Hossain, with the court of Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Shiblu Kumar.
Later, the court ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the matter.
According to the 2nd autopsy report done by The Forensic Medicine Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the BCL leader was murdered. The report was published on July 30 last.
