Bagerhat: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive on Saturday night rescued a minor girl, who was kidnapped from Mongla upazila on Wednesday, from Shonar Par area in Narayanganj, three days after the abduction.

Police also arrested two persons, Manir Hossain, 28, and Saiful Islam, 38, of Phulbaria upazila in Mymensingh from the spot, reports UNB.

RAB sources said Meem Akter, 6, daughter of Mostafa Hawladar of

Malgazi area in Mongla upazila was kidnapped allegedly by Manir from her house on Wednesday.

Later Manir demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom from Mostafa over phone and threatened to kill his girl if he failed to provide the ransom money or if he informed the matter to police.

Mostafa informed the police and RAB anyway.

Following the complaint, a team of RAB-6 led by Lieutenant Commander M Mahfuzul Islam conducted a drive tracking the mobile phone of the kidnapper and rescued the girl.

The elite force also arrested two kidnappers during the drive.

Mongla police officer-in-charge Sheikh Lutfur Rahman said a case was filed in this connection.
