Rajshahi: An ethnic man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Paruliya village in Mohonpur union of Godagari upazila on Sunday evening.

The deceased is Ratan Chandra, about 40 years old, resident of Choyghati village of the upazila.

Hipzur Alam Munsi, officer-in-charge (OC) of Godagari Police Station, said that Ratan used to live at his father-in-law's house.

Family members spotted his hanging body in the evening and informed police.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Police also recovered a suicidal note from his waist.

The reason behind suicide could not be known immediately.
