Flood snaps Dinajpur rail service
Dinajpur: Rail communications of Dinajpur with rest of the country have been suspended since Sunday due to flood triggered by heavy rain fall and surge of water from upstream.
Dinajpur railway station Stationmaster Manjur Hossain told NTV Online on Monday, the rail link at Dinajpur-Thakurgaon-Panchagarh, and Dinajpur-Parbatipur routes has been disrupted since Sunday morning as the railway tracks went underwater for heavy rain. Rail communication of Dinajpur with Dhaka is also halted as authorities suspended Parbotiput rail route.
Heavy downpour has been recorded since Monday morning, which increased water level of the rivers in Dinajpur. Water of River Punarvaba and Atrai overflowed danger level.
The flood situation in Dinajpur remained unchanged as waters of both the Punorbhava and Atrai rivers were flowing 80 centimetres above the danger level on Monday morning, said sources at Water Development Board in Dinajpur.
Of the 13 upazilas, most of those remained trapped in floodwaters.
