Bhairab: A mobile court fined a councillor candidate in Bhairab municipality of Kishoreganj on charge of violating election code of conduct on Sunday.

The convict Mohammad Lokman Hossain Sarkar is the present councillor of ward 4 and an aspirant of upcoming municipality election for the same ward.

Mobile court magistrate Chitra Shikari said Lokman Hoossain was fined Tk5, 000 for violating the election code of conduct.

A mobile court comprising Bhairab upazila assistant commissioner (Land) and executive magistrate Chittra Shikari fined Lokman Hossain for electioneering at about 11:00pm. No electoral campaign is allowed after 8:00pm as per the election code of conduct.

The municipality polls for the posts of mayor, councillor, and reserved female councillor are scheduled to be held on 30 December in a total of 234 municipalities across the country.
