One lakh saplings planted in a minute in Bangabandhu’s memory

People of Borhanuddin upazila in Bhola on Tuesday paid tribute to the memories of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in an exceptional way as they planted one lakh saplings planted in a minute in the area.
Organised by Borhanuddin upazilla administration, the programme was inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Environment and Forests Abdullah Al Islam Jakob at a function in upazilla’s Power Plant area, reports the BSS.
Bhola-3 lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon, Bhola-2 lawmaker Ali Azam Mukul, and Borhanuddin upazilla Chairman Mhoabatjan Chowdhury were present on the occasion among others.
The saplings of 21 different type trees were planted at 507 spots across the upazilla simultaneously.
‘Tree is the true friend of us and there is no alternative of plantation to save the environment. Prime minister also emphasized on plantation and has called for planting three saplings each,’ Jacob said in his speech.
The deputy minister also declared a programme of planting a million saplings across Bhola.
