Miscreants killed a caretaker of a shrine at Sonaimuri Upazila of Noakhali by stabbing and slitting his throat on Wednesday.

The incident took place at village of Hatgaon at Nadona union of the upazila.  

The victim, Sona Miah, is a resident of Faridpur. He was the caretaker of Afjal Patwari shrine, said the villagers.

Sonaimuri Circle Assistant Police Super Abdullah Al Masum said, local people held Ilias, one of the assailants, and handed him over to police after giving him a thrashing.

The motif behind the murder could not be identified immediately, said police.
