Chittagong: BNP-backed Sitakunda mayoral candidate in Chittagong Abul Mansoor was allegedly attacked by the followers of opposition candidate at about 8:00am on Wednesday.

Abul Mansoor told journalists supporters of the opposition candidate physically assaulted and beat him when he went to Panthishila polling station.

The Sitakunda returning officer Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan said he took action immediately after the mayoral aspirant unofficially informed him about the issue.

Earlier, Swarupkati BNP-endorsed mayoral candidate’s polling agent has been beaten by the opposition aspirant’s followers.
