Eid holidays of RHD engineers cancelled

Gazipur: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said necessary steps, including cancellation of Eid holidays of Roads and Highways (RHD) engineers, have been taken to ensure smooth journey of holidaymakers.
‘Eid holidays of the RHD engineers have been cancelled for maintenance of roads damaged by recent flood and constant monitoring of road condition has been ensured for smooth journeys of homebound people during Eid-ul-Azha,’ said the minister during a visit to Dhaka-Tangail highway in Chanda intersection area on Friday morning.
He hoped that the eid journey would be more comfortable this year than the previous years.
Quader also gave several instructions to the officials concerned to ensure hassle-free journey of home-bound people.
Atikul Islam, deputy inspector general of highway police, Sabuj Uddin Khan, Dhaka divisional engineer of RHD and Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, superintendent of Gazipur Police were present.
Devastating floods and heavy rainfall battered many roads across the country and many roads and bridges damaged by the floods are yet to be reconstructed.
