Voting postponed at 3 Jamalpur centres

Voting at three polling centres of Jamalpur municipality have been postponed after violence, fighting at the centres. There are allegations of vote rigging at several centres.
Polling centres where voting were postponed are — Azad Primary School, Chankanda Govt primary School, and Baniabazar High School.
The returning officer at Singhajani Girls’ School suspended the voting for an hour following a clash among supports of the mayoral candidates.
Meanwhile, Jatiyo Party (JaPa) backed candidate Hafijur Rahman Badsha declared to boycott the polls in Jamalpur sadar municipality. His declaration came at about 9:30am on Wednesday.
Hafijur Rahman said, ‘I couldn’t cast my vote.’
The JaPa leader also said massive vote rigging are taking place at many polling stations. In protest, he boycotted the polls.
Earlier, voting at Singhajani Girls’ School and Sarishabari Bangalipara Primary School polling stations were suspended in allegation of violence.
Meanwhile, BNP-backed mayoral candidate Wares Ali at Jamalpur sadar municipality raised several complains to the journalists. He claimed that in several of his agents were driven out of the polling stations and seals are being put on ballot papers in favour of Awami League candidate.
