Sylhet: A court here on Tuesday convicted six people and awarded them to life imprisonment for killing a day labour in 2012.

The convicts are—Shamsul Islam and Monirul Islam, sons of late Majmil Ali, Taj Uddin and Bashir Uddin, sons of late Jomir Miah, Moynul Islam and Sebul Mia, sons of late Ishak Ali, residents of Kadipur village in Bishwanath upazila.

The court also fined them Tk 20000 each.

According to the prosecution, the convicts killed day labour Oliur Rahman Jalil, 21, son of Shunur Ali of Kadirpur village, over previous enmity on May 24, 2012.

Later the victim’s mother Nurechha Begum filed a murder case with Bishawanath Police Station against the six convicts.

After examining the witnesses, Judge of Sylhet Additional District and Session Court-1 AM Julfikar Hayat handed down the verdict.
