Bagerhat AL office torched
Bagerhat: Miscreants set an Awami League office in Bagerhat municipality afire early on Friday, reports local news agency United News of Bangladesh (UNB).
The Bagerhat model police Mizanur Rahman Khan said the miscreants set the no 4 ward unit Awami League office ablaze at Amlapara in the district town in the wee hours.
The fire burnt down the furniture and a television set inside the office.
On information, firefighters went to the spot and extinguished the blaze after frantic efforts.
Jainul Abedin, an official of Bagerhat Fire Brigade Station, said the fire might have originated from electric short circuit.
Meanwhile, Taksir Hossain, adviser of Bagerhat municipal unit Awami League, alleged that the activists of the defeated party have set the office afire.
However, police are investigating the incident, said the OC.
