Bandarban: Approximately 90,000 Rohingya refugees crossed into Bangladesh through 11 points of Bandarban and they are staying in eight temporary camps set up in the district.

Police superintendent Sanjit Kumar Roy came up with the remarks after concluding a meeting on law and order at the District Commissioner’s conference room.

The 11 points are Chakdhala, Asartoli, Bara Jhankhola, Reju Amtoli, Patrajhiri, Baisfari, Ghumghum, Tamadru, Sapmara Jhiri, Fultoli and Dochari.

So far, three Rohingyas were killed and four others were injured in mine explosions as they were crossing border earlier on Saturday, where the border local administration and Red Crescent were working for their medical assistance, he said.

District commissioner Dilip Kumar Banik said after preparing a list of Rohingyas they will be sent to Balukhali camp as temporary shelter.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Ang Shipro Marma said three special medical teams were providing medication to the injured Rohingyas while another team with 10 doctors was sent to Naikhangchhari.

Rohingyas injured in the mine explosions were sent to Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar Hospital, he said.

Representative of Army Major Shafik said Border Guard is on highest alert in the bordering areas.
