Rajshahi: Three miscreants were held after they hurled petrol bombs at two buses at Shiroil bus terminal in Rajshahi city in the early hours of Sunday.

The detainees are Rinku, 27, resident of Talaimari area, Rejaul Hossain, 26, and Mim Al Mahmud Ishtiaque, 28.

Boalia Model Police officer-in-charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain said that arrestees vandalised two Hanif  Paribahan buses, plying on the Dhaka-Rajshahi route, parked at the bus stand and threw petrol bombs at the buses at about 6:01am. The attackers managed to flee from the spot as the bus workers chased them.

The miscreants also hurled two crude bombs before leaving the spot.
Police said Rinku received a bullet as police fired at the miscreants during the attack. Later he was taken to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.

Alamgir Hossain said police also seized two fire bombs, an iron rod and a knife from Rinku.

The OC claimed that Rinku is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activist.
