Moulvibazar: A councilor of Ward No 1 of Maulvibazar municipality and his four family members were injured in an attack by unidentified criminals at his house on Kashinath road in the district town on Friday night.

Quoting family members, police said a gang of 15 to 20 criminals stormed into the house around 8:00 pm and attacked Swagata Kishore Das Chowdhury, also convener of district unit of Swechchasebak Dal and his family members and fled the scene.

The injured include Swagata's wife Jonaki Das Chowdhury, his younger brother's wife Tonni Das Chowdhury, his cousin Badhan Das Chowdhury and his aunty Rumi Das Chowdhury.

Hearing their screaming, locals rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.

Later, duty doctor sent the municipal councilor to a hospital in Sylhet as his condition was critical.

On information, police visited the crime scene and hospital but none was arrested yet in this connection.
