‘Top terrorist’ killed in Kushtia ‘gunfight’
Kushtia: A suspected top terrorist was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Pipulbaria-Baliadanga field in Daulatpur upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased is Teny, about 27 years old, son of Alam Mandal, a resident of Chatardara village in Aria union of the upazila and accused in several cases including murder.
Shah Dara Than, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said that on secret information, a team of police led by sub-inspector Rahim conducted a drive in the area around 03:45 am.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, members of the terrorist gang opened fire on police, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
Later, police rescued bullet-hit Teny from the spot.
He was rushed to Daulatpur hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police recovered one foreign-made pistol, a magazine and two rounds of bullets from the spot.
Three police members were also injured in the incident.
