BCL men vandalise clinic for ‘extortion’
Laxmipur: Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) allegedly attacked and vandalised a private clinic in Ramganj upazila on Friday night over extortion.
Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, manager of Prantik General Hospital, and witnesses said that a group of BCL leaders and activists riding on 15/20 motorcycles led by upazila BCL president Faisal Maal and general secretary Mehedi Hasan Shuvo attacked and stormed into the hospital at night.
Around five people, including patients, were injured in the attack, he alleged.
The hospital sources said that the BCL leaders had been demanding extortion for long.
Md Tota Miah, officer-in-charge of Ramganj Police Station, said that they are investing into the incident.
Contacted, Chowdhury Mahamudunnabi Sohel, district BCL leader, denied the involvement of BCL men in the attack incident.
He alleged that the group of BCL men chased the leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal as they were planning to stage sabotage at the hospital.
