Revolutionary Jasim Uddin Mandal passes away

Dhaka: Jashim Uddin Mandal, a revolutionary in the anti-British movement, diedat a private hospital in Dhaka on Monday morning. He was 95.
The coordinator of anti-British movement and veteran leader of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) breathed his last at Health and Hope Hospital in Panthapath at about 6:00am, confirmed CPB’s Presidium member Aniruddha Das Anjan.
The leader was admitted to the hospital on September 28.
Comrade Jasim was later shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital at 8:47pm on Sunday as his condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim and General Secretary Shah Alam issued statement expressing their great shock at the death of Comrade Jashim Uddin.
CPB said the body of Jashim Uddin Mandal will be kept at the mortuary of Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM).
The body will be taken to CPB Central Office at Purana Paltan at about 10:00am on Tuesday. Later, Jashim Uddin will be taken to Central Shaheed Minar at about 11:00am and will be kept for his followers to pray last tribute.
Born in 1922, Jasim Uddin took part in the anti-British movement.
He joined the Communist Party in 1940.
