Satkhira: A housewife was strangled to death allegedly by her husband at Parkukhrali village of Sadar upazila on Saturday midnight over dowry.

The deceased is Juli Khatun, about 24 years old, wife of Abdur Razzak.

Maruf Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that Razzak used to torture his wife after marriage over dowry. Following the issue, he strangled his wife to death at midnight.

Being informed from locals, police recovered the body and sent it to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy and arrested Razzak.

During primary interrogation, Razzak admitted his guilt, the OC added.
