Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized about 4,000 kg banned polythene from a cargo ship on the Buriganga River in Pangaon port of Fatullah in Naryanganj on early Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Pagla station of the coast guard conducted the drive at about 6:00am and recovered the banned polythene consignment worth around Tk 6 lakh from waterways cargo ‘Mayer Doa’ on the river, reports UNB.

The seized polythene consignment was destroyed in presence of the district environment officer of Naryangonj, officials of the Coast Guard headquarters said.
