Dhaka: A total of nine devotees including a foreign citizen have died at the Ijtema venue since Friday, reports BSS.

The first phase of the 50th Biswa Ijtema was ended with Akheri Munajat (concluding prayers) on the bank of Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur on Sunday.

The deceased are M Alauddin, 70, hailed from Sylhet; Abul Kalam Azad, 60, from Sundarpur village of Noakhali; Joynal Abedin, 55, from Ronokhali of Gopalganj upazila under Sylhet; Nurul Islam, 72, from Chaklapar village of Ulipur in Kurigram; and Farid Uddin, 65, from Botia village of Singra upazila in Natore; Dalilur Rahman, 75, son of Qashim Uddin of Kazipur in Sirajganj; Joynal Abedin, 60, son of Mir Hossain Akand from Harinarayanpur village of Vennapur in Sirajgang; and an Indonesian citizen Purnam Sopan allias Sopha Hazi.
