‘Drug kingpin’ killed in Chittagong ‘gunfight’
Chittagong: Suspected leader of a drug dealers’ gang killed in a reported gunfight between police and drug traders in Chittagong city in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased is Faruque, in his forties.
RAB’s Assistant Director Colonel Mifta Uddin Ahmed said the gunfight took place in Ice Factory road area under the Kotowali police station at about 2:30am.
RAB said Faruque is popularly known as ‘Boss Faruque’ and ‘Baitta Faruque’. He was wanted in around 18 cases.
RAB assistant director said Faruque is a drug kingpin. RAB conducted a drive to hold him on Thursday night. Farugue’s gang members opened fire to RAB, and RAB also fired back, which left Faruque dead on the spot.
RAB claimed to recovered two foreign-made pistols, a one-shooter gun, around two lakh Yaba, and huge amount of phensedyl from the spot.
