‘BCL leader’ sent to judicial custody

A Gazipur court on Monday sent the person, arrested on Sunday for collecting extortion from hawkers at Tongi, to judicial custody while the police shown him arrested and charged him with vandalising and violence during the blockade imposed by 20-Party Alliance last year.
Police placed Nasir at a magistrate court, which sent him to the custody of judicial magistrate. Hearing will be continuing on Tuesday, said Tongi police offiecer-in-charge Firoz Talukadar.
Police held the person while he was collecting extortions from makeshift shops near Tongi. He even tried to snatch a gun of a police constable.
However, the arrested claimed himself to be an activist of Chhatra League, the students’ body of ruling Awami League.
