Former lawmaker Mashiur Rahman jailed for 10 yrs in graft case
Jhenidah: A special court on Wednesday sentenced a BNP leader, also a former Member of Parliament, to 10 years imprisonment in a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for concealing information in wealth report and amassing illegal wealth.
The accused BNP leader is M Mashiur Rahman, president of Jhenidah district unit of BNP and a former lawmaker.
The court also fined him Tk 90,000 and confiscated his wealth worth Tk 10 crore.
According to the court statement, the ACC on December 14 in 2008, filed a case against Mashiur for concealing wealth information and amassing wealth illegally under section 26 (2) and section 327 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2008.
After examining all documents and witnesses, Judge of Jessore Special Court Nitai Chandra handed down the verdict.
