Badda father-daughter murder prime suspect detained in Khulna

Khulna: Police on Friday morning arrested from the district the prime suspect in the killing of a man and his daughter in Dhaka’s Badda area.

A team of police of Badda police station with the help of Khulna police arrested Shahin Mallik from the city.

Earlier, Shamim Sheikh, brother of the victim Jamil, on Thursday night filed a murder case accusing Arjina, and Shahin, who was a sublet tenant at the victim’s residence, said Kazi Wazed Ali, Officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station.

On Thursday, Jamil, in his thirties, and his daughter Nusrat, around 9 years old, were found dead in their rented house at Moynar Bagh in Dhaka’s Badda area.

On information, police recovered the bodies from the residence.

Jamil’s body bore multiple stab injuries while Nusrat might have been strangled to death, said police.

Police, meanwhile, detained Arjina, from the crime scene for interrogation.

Shahin had an alleged extra-marital affair with victim Jamil’s wife Arjina Begum, said Ashraful Kabir, senior assistant commissioner (Badda Zone).
